Class of 2018’s Most Eligible Bachelors

Harvard Business School’s Most Eligible Bachelors 2017-2018

Matt Stansky, Section H

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
Weeks footbridge at sunset, a quiet table for two in Baker, or the Shad basketball courts, it’s not where, but with whom, so wherever you are is where I want to be.

What do you look for in a partner?
Someone with humble self-confidence who believes she can make the game-winning shot. She’s got spunk, is your best teammate, and most importantly, has footwork for the hardwood or dfloor

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
You find success one possession at a time, so be patient and be yourself. Don’t be afraid to take the shot…you just may be taking Cinderella to the big dance.

What is your best attribute?

It’s no coincidence that hustle requires zero athleticism and is also my greatest attribute on and off the court. I don’t need to be the superstar, but I’ll be your MVP.

What is your ideal date?
Running the Harvard Stadium steps at sunrise. If the view isn’t breathtaking, then the stairs sure will be. We’d end with my favorite, well-earned breakfast — Chef Felipe’s omelets in Spangler.

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
I’ve never have a bad date, but I’ve learned that upset endings can be heartbreakers. Fortunately, there’s always next season.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Besides jumping passing lanes and pulling up for 3’s in transition, I can’t resist dancing to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies”.

Evan Brower, Section F

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
The Shad squat rack.

What do you look for in a partner?
Appreciation of nuanced flannel button downs, ambivalence towards pumpkin spiced lattes, enjoys delicious micro brews (esp Indian pale ales) and charcuterie plates

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
Contrary to popular HBS belief, dating is not like an investment banking / consulting engagement.  No need for non disclosure agreements, exclusivity periods, non competes. Have fun out there guys!

What is your best attribute?
1 rep max bench press @ 285lbs (~129 kg – see I’m even international eligible guys!)

What is your ideal date?
Tall boy PBRs at the diviest bar you can think of (think peeps republik meets Brooklyn meets Portlandia).  Guns N Roses or zeppelin cover band in background

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
I once took this girl to brunch in LA and all she did was take an Instagram photo of her food (obvi she got Avo toast or something) and write #EEEEEATS under it.  Yeah…that sucked. Turns out we probably wouldn’t have worked out anyways, apparently

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Whey protein, beach boys and Beatles vinyls and this new John Mayer record!  Seriously guys give it a listen on your morning walk to class – it’s killer!

Long Lu, Section B

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
Chairs by Baker library lawn.

What do you look for in a partner?
Trust and a strong desire to listen to each other.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
Be more authentic, and less judgmental.

What is your best attribute?
I try to be honest most of the time and dependable all the time.

What is your ideal date?
A nice person who completes me (and discusses about cases with me :D).

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
It is important to respect each other’s opinion, because people come from very different backgrounds.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
I enjoy all the comfort food: BBQ, fried chicken, Lady M Green Tea Cake… you name it.

Raphael Mukomilow, Section D

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
The Type-I dorm bedroom, you really have to get close there.

What do you look for in a partner?
Cheeky & intriguing; great humor.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
If
in doubt, check it out 😉

What is your best attribute?
There is no such thing as a bad-hair-day.

What is your ideal date?
Spontaneous weekend-trip to Paris.

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
Work is work and pleasure is pleasure, you can imagine the rest. Learning: “don’t dip your pen in the company’s ink…”

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Post-sex Ben & Jerry’s 😉

Pratik Pokharel, Section J

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
The Dean’s House. Adding HBS to your Tinder profile is already game changing. Now imagine adding “Yo. Come check out my crib…”

What do you look for in a partner?
Low self-esteem. It’s usually my only chance.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
MIT isn’t that far away. It’s walkable even. The undergrads are even closer.

What is your best attribute?
Eternal optimism. Hope. The undying belief that despite all the rejection, tomorrow will be a better day.

What is your ideal date?
I think dd/mm/yyyy is the perfect date format (yyyy/mm/dd is passable). The mm/dd/yyyy system used in these parts is just ludicrous.

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?

Once, feeling particularly alone and unloved I invited a homeless woman to join me in the local KFC for a quick bite. She laughed and ran away. I learned that “Mean Girls” isn’t only the title of a film.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Double fisting… (I’m sometimes a really slow drinker).

Jules Schwerin & Divyang Arora, Together, Section E

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
JS: Baker Library. I’ve not been but I hear it’s quite nice.
DA: Aldrich 007

What do you look for in a partner?
JS: A sense of humor.
DA: Long term investing horizon, 5 and 50 instead of 2 and 20, no board seats

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
JS: Set your Bumble radius to 1 mile. In other news Spangler is not an acceptable date location.
DA: Don’t

What is your best attribute?
JS: The fact that I’m closing in on 30 and share a bathroom in McCulloch [insert your favorite awkward / sad emoji here].
DA: My hair.

What is your ideal date?
JS: Any date where I laugh and have a good cocktail or some great whisky is ideal. Also a beach is always a winner.
DA: Drive from mobile to Birmingham Alabama, and spending the day at the Alabama state fair

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
JS: A blind date in college. The thirty-word limit won’t do this justice so ask me about it in person. Lesson learned: blind dates are never a good idea.
DA: Tore my ACL while playing squash on a first date. What I learned – don’t forget to stretch before a date

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
JS: The bachelor
DA: Collecting Allbirds.

The Scribe
Section C’s Most Eligible Bachelor

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?

The Charles River just by the Weeks Footbridge. I always go there during my lunch break to relieve some stress by looking at the geese and yelling into my scream pillow.

What do you look for in a partner?
Attendance and participation. I’m always looking for that.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
Accutane.

What is your best attribute?
My position. It’s lonely at the top but at least you get to look down on everyone else.

What is your ideal date?
We go to Clover in Harvard Square. You order the Chickpea Fritter Platter and share some of your extra hummus when I reach the dry part of my pita. We then bust out our laptops and transcribe all the conversations around us, before heading to Mike’s Pastry for some Rainbow Layer Cookies.

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
Slovenian chicken day in the Spangler Dining Hall. There’s a reason you’ve never heard of Slovenian chicken.

Parker Sheedy, Section G

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
The bocce court at twilight. Nothing sets the mood like a little teamwork between type A HBS students.

What do you look for in a partner?
Curiosity. My life outlook is that we should always be discovering new and exciting things about the world and never become complacent.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
To be less judgmental of our classmates who date or attempt to date within our community. I think that oftentimes we gossip a lot or judge sectionmates and it creates a self-conscious student body that isn’t helpful to our romantic lives.

What is your best attribute?
Loyalty. I am as loyal as a golden retriever and will never let a friend down. I think it’s important to always be there for those who are there for you.

What is your ideal date?
A spring picnic on the Charles.  I actually keep a picnic basket complete with plates and wine glasses in the back of my car because you never know when you’ll find love.

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
I ran late from work and kept my date waiting about 45 minutes. Something came up at work and I didn’t communicate particularly well with my date. I learned that communication is absolutely essential.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Travel magazines. I pick them up every time I’m at an airport and read them before bed. Travel and Leisure and Conde Nast are the best.

Aki Terasaki, Section A

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
The Spangler fireplaces

What do you look for in a partner?
Open-minded but not afraid to disagree. Rational but not robotic. Passionate but not irrational. So, basically, Goldilocks with abs…and not a girl.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
Don’t.

What is your best attribute?
My appetite (runner-up: my metabolism)

What is your ideal date?

Small plates at Night Market, big margaritas at Felipe’s

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
The guy physically could not stop talking about his a capella group in college. Lesson learned: don’t date boys from Yale.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
The three G’s: gelato, gin, Gossip Girl. Xoxo.

Ravi Yegya-Raman, Section I

What do you think is the most romantic spot on campus?
Baker Library for sure. Haven’t met anyone who’s actually been inside. If I wanted a quiet, secluded spot for a romantic evening, that would be my go to.

What do you look for in a partner?
Parents with multiple vacation homes.

What is the best advice you can give for the HBS dating scene?
Don’t shop hungry.

What is your best attribute?
Baker on the street, Section X in the sheets.

What is your ideal date?
A quiet, candlelit dinner at one of your parents’ vacation homes.

Your worst date: what went wrong and what did you learn?
What went wrong: she didn’t show up
What did I learn: showing up is definitely more than half the battle

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Putting a $5 Spangler pecan pie into a takeout box and paying $1.45 at $0.52 per ounce
