Days in rural Malawi begin just before dawn. Children start fetching water from the taps in the foyer of our guest house. The bakery run by HIV-positive women out of our kitchen is up and running a few minutes later. And the cook has begun slaughtering a goat for dinner....

Good for you, Dan. It is so easy to do good and be popular in Malawi when you have plenty of money and 4WDs. But it looks as if you are thinking beyond that to the sustainability of your enterprise and to local involvement. I wish everybody in the "aid industry" in Malawi was so hard-headed!
